Hi!

Just have to say how much I enjoy reading anything and everything from Boundless! I discovered Boundless at the New Attitude Conference 2008 and I've been hooked ever since.

I live in northeast Ohio where I grew up. I am one of 9 kids ... born to an Amish farmer and his lovely wife. I was raised in Amish and Mennonite churches until I was 10 years old. Then we became what my siblings I like to call "normal". :)

After high school I moved to Maryland (near Washington D.C.) for about 5 years to be a nanny and later took a job in an office. I have since moved back to Ohio and I am currently enjoying my job as a bookkeeper for a really great company.

I enjoy reading, daydreaming, organizing stuff (anything!!), and I love the outdoors and traveling (but only in warm weather).

Thank you Boundless for all your hard work and dedication!!!

Blessings,
Laura

Oooh...backyard glamor shot.

The rose is a nice touch!

I took the facebook "which theologian are you" quiz and came up "Mennonite." Who knew?

2

Hi Laura,

I love organising too. It's amazing xx

3

Hey! It's great to see another Ohioan here on Boundless! I'm originally from Dayton, although at the moment I live in Athens while I study at Ohio University.

OH-

4

Shout out to all the Menno's! Although the kind I am is entirely different than what you grew up with, Laura. When I was little I wanted to grow up to be Amish. I was one of those people *wishing* the power would go out when the 2000 came around.

I am glad you are enjoying a "normal" life. Oh, and three cheers for organizing!

5

:) Ohio is nice, send us some snow to Ga!

6

I have probably seen you in your buggy in OH when I was there visiting my farmer cousins. We sometimes talk to the Amish people that will stop and talk to us.

I went to a Plymouth Bretheren/Mennonite church for 12 years. It has a lot of Navy nuclear people so I jokingly refer to it as the "nuclear Mennonite church." The head elders wife always used to whisper in my ear: "The central Mennonite committee is furious!" I never knew what she was talking about, but then 10 years after the fact I think it clicked.

I also went to a Christian college with a lot of Mennonite roots and wound up working in the defense industry as did many of my classmates which is another strange twist of fate.

Ah, the Mennonite Central Committee. While my church does a lot for the poor, we're not so good at handling donations of "stuff," unless it's stuff that we can take to Mexico. Thats mostly things like clothes for children.

But the local committee has a thrift store that has happily accepted everything I had to give, including Adult-sized clothing. It's nice having them in the community.

8

Yay for Ohioans on Boundless!

Like Emily, I am also a student at Ohio University in Athens. =)

9

When I moved out of my parent's house, I bought everything I needed for my kitchen at MCC for $60!

10

i'm one of 9 kids too!!! :D and yay for the organizing!
