I'm Here: Christchurch, New Zealand (and New York City)

Kiwi

Hi Boundless!

I am currently in America but for ages I've been reading and listening to Boundless in Christchurch, New Zealand!

I took this photo of a 'kiwi xing" sign when I was driving to my parents house from Christchurch, one week before I flew out for America. I didn't see any real Kiwis but this one has reminded me of home while I'm away.

Emma

This is a photo of me in Times Square, NYC. I came to the US as an au pair and I am living and working with a Jewish American family. It has been an experience! I've been here for eight months which seems incredible. Just this morning I found a journal entry from when I first arrived and I was pouring my heart out to God because one whole year seemed impossible.

Boundless had encouraged, supported, and cheered me up countless times over the last few years but especially the last eight months and I love listening to the Boundless podcast when I'm out walking or on the train into NYC.

Hi! I was gonna send a photo from Christchurch too, but I see you beat me to it!

Hope you're having a fantastic time away (and you're not missing much right now, it's absolutely freezing here. The weather keeps attempting to snow!)

Emma

Hi Emma!

Great, another reader from New Zealand. I like that you are the only one standing still in the photo of Times Square: quite the bustling contrast to our little country, nu?

3

Wow, so Kiwis can also be bird-like creatures or a type of bird?! Wow, the things you learn on Boundless "I'm here"'s...

4

Hey! Great to see another Kiwi reader! I'm from NZ too, Auckland...but don't hold that against me ok? :)

5

Rachael - LOL. New Zealanders are called "kiwis" because of their native kiwi bird, hahaha.

6

There seems to be a few kiwis (people I meant not birds or fruit) on boundless. I'm currently living in Gisborne, New Zealand.

7

Leah - :) Man how clueless, and I've been exposed to the international world, including a couple New Zealanders :)

Maybe one day I'll do a google search for Kiwi the bird...

8

Hey Emma,

So cool to see you publishing on Boundless. I love those kiwi crossing signs too! Its funny.. my sister who is living in the states is called Kiwi by her American friends. It was really funny when they came to NZ with her and were calling her kiwi here too. I really enjoy listening to boundless also. I'm glad that the time has flown by.

Wow Emma, glad to see you made it on Boundless, what a contrast of photos. Country girl now swanning about NYC -so grown up. Eight months already!!

Hi my fellow Kiwis... quite a few of us I see and probably more who haven't posted.

New Zealanders got their worldwide nickname from a brand of Australian shoe polish -bizarre huh?

10

Yay, there are lots of kiwis here! I will include myself, I'm from Christchurch!! Go CHCH! It seems we're on to a good thing down here;)
