Help Name Our Movie Review
by Motte Brown on 05/12/2009 at 1:19 PM
Boundless needs your help deciding on a name for our new movie review video featuring Plugged In Online's Bob Waliszewski. Each week Bob and host will share Plugged In's unique perspective on the good and bad that's coming out of Hollywood. The two names we've landed on for the feature are "The Big Picture" and "Reel Wise."
The poll is on the Boundless.org homepage.
Or if you can come up with a better name, submit a write-in and become eligible to win an audio CD set of Focus on the Family's radio theater production of The Chronicles of Narnia (a retail value of $99.99).

1. Ashley Harris said the following at 1:57 PM on May 12:
The Narnia Audio series is the one of the best radio dramas I've heard! I listened to it on a roadtrip and loved it. It is true to the books, captivating in it's storytelling, and dramatic enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series to anyone with an imagination and a CD player.

Ok, I'll start. How about ... "Movie-Somethings"?

Two Tickets for Media Discernment?
4. Motte Brown said the following at 3:48 PM on May 12:
BDB:
I pitched "Reel Discernment" but it was dismissed as "too heady."
5. Dan said the following at 4:04 PM on May 12:
Thoughtful Tomatoes. :P
6. BDB said the following at 4:12 PM on May 12:
Darn.
If Reel Discernment was an option, I would have voted for it!
(I was trying to make sure it was relationship-oriented with the two tickets thing, too. So that no one complained it was unrelated to the mission of Boundless.)

Spotlight Motion?
Motion Picture Motives?
Vision Revision?
Vision Review?
The Visional (I am thinking like, confessional, but it probably sounds more like urinal...)
Hollywood Scope
Motion Scope
To Flee or Not to Flee
Flee or See
Cast it or See It?
I think the well ran out long ago, so that should be good for now.
13. Melisssa S. said the following at 11:21 PM on May 12:
I would have preferred Reel Discernment to Reel Wise, also. As it is, I voted for Reel Wise.
14. Iris said the following at 3:25 AM on May 13:
I second (or third) Reel Discernment.
15. Miriam said the following at 5:35 AM on May 13:
Ooh, I like "Reel Discernment" too - you couldn't add it to the options?
16. Caiti said the following at 7:20 AM on May 13:
Another would-be vote for Motte's Reel Discernment. But as it stands, I like Reel Wise, too. :)
and can I just say YAY! I've always loved the segments with Bob, and I'm glad they're going to be a regular item now!
17. Big Guy said the following at 8:05 AM on May 13:
How about: Leer sweiver!
18. Osayi said the following at 8:37 AM on May 13:
What about
Cinematics Perfectus (latin for perfect)
or
Cinematics Totus (latin for total)
or
Cinematics Vere (Latin for real)
or
Just Cinematics

Hope it doesn't sound pretentious- I just thought it stood out, and had a ring to it
19. Adam said the following at 9:07 AM on May 13:
How about "Reel Wisdom" instead of "Reel Wise"?
20. Tami said the following at 10:13 AM on May 13:
Are movies still distributed on reels anymore? :)
How about "Screening Out the Truth"?
21. Jorden said the following at 10:27 AM on May 13:
I also vote for "Reel Discernment."
but if that's a no-go, then "Reel Wise" is ok too.
I also want to comment to say that's it's cool to see a Poll on the front page like I suggested adding awhile back, that is pretty awesome.
22. Kate said the following at 10:37 AM on May 13:
The Reel Deal?
Reel it In?
23. Christina said the following at 11:50 AM on May 13:
I like the word discernment. It's pretty-much a favorite.
From a branding standpoint, however, it's a three syllable word easily mumbled.
All that to say, I'm 50/50 on trading wise in for discernment.
24. obewan said the following at 12:44 PM on May 13:
I voted for "Reel Wise" but would go for "Reel Discernment" as well. Real Wise might be a better play on words, but it is a toss up.
25. Chris said the following at 1:04 PM on May 13:
"Savvy Cinephile" or just "Savvy Cinema"
26. John Thomas said the following at 2:33 PM on May 13:
Waliszewskis MovieReviewskis
27. Tami said the following at 3:28 PM on May 13:
One more vote for "Waliszewskis MovieReviewskis"!
28. Miss E said the following at 3:50 PM on May 13:
Love the suggestion of no. 26! :-D
29. brx said the following at 2:55 AM on May 14:
Too pretentious: The Big Picture, Reel Wise.
If it follows Plugged-In, I'd say "Reel Conservative" would be more accurate.
But, I could accept "Reel Discernment"
- if reviewers can continue to see the point of the film rather than just it's content.
30. nicole said the following at 10:36 AM on May 14:
"Reel review"...not reel wise I think it's corny.
31. Nick said the following at 3:17 PM on May 14:
I like 25's suggestions. Alternately, how about "Beyond the Scenes"?
32. BDB said the following at 4:03 PM on May 14:
I move for a re-vote between "Reel Discernment" and the top vote-getter for the first poll...
33. Cassandra said the following at 4:52 PM on May 14:
Hmm, the vote is close. I think the "something else" third option is functioning as the Ross Perot of this poll.
34. Cassandra said the following at 4:56 PM on May 14:
not reel wise I think it's corny.
I agree with Nicole #30, I think reel wise is reel lame. Probably because I'm a grammar maven and it sounds like poor grammar.
Reel discernment is different for me, though, because someone would actually say "she shows real discernment" whereas no one would say "she's real wise" unless they were on a daytime talk show.
35. Drew Bryden said the following at 6:15 PM on May 14:
"The Soul in Cinema" - I think that the name should reflect the importance of our entertainment choices. "Reel Wise" would get a strong vote for second choice from me.
36. leah said the following at 6:51 PM on May 14:
Silver Screening
37. Jorden said the following at 11:36 PM on May 14:
No one has really commented on the other poll option. "The Big Picture" is pretty good as well.
I also agree with Cassandra(#34)
38. Samantha said the following at 12:26 AM on May 15:
I'd vote for "Flee or See?"
39. Shae said the following at 3:27 PM on May 16:
I second "Silver Screening'! "Flee or See" is pretty good, too.
40. Fisayo said the following at 3:19 PM on May 17:
I suggest Fresh Eyes.
41. k said the following at 10:15 PM on May 17:

56. Laura M said the following at 12:35 PM on Jun 11:
The Big Picture is already been used here: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/ .
I realize it's not movies but this is what I think of when I hear The Big Picture. I think the other option is better and hopefully more original.
