Help Name Our Movie Review
by Motte Brown on 05/12/2009 at 1:19 PM

Boundless needs your help deciding on a name for our new movie review video featuring Plugged In Online's Bob Waliszewski. Each week Bob and host will share Plugged In's unique perspective on the good and bad that's coming out of Hollywood. The two names we've landed on for the feature are "The Big Picture" and "Reel Wise."

The poll is on the Boundless.org homepage.

Or if you can come up with a better name, submit a write-in and become eligible to win an audio CD set of Focus on the Family's radio theater production of The Chronicles of Narnia (a retail value of $99.99).

The Narnia Audio series is the one of the best radio dramas I've heard! I listened to it on a roadtrip and loved it. It is true to the books, captivating in it's storytelling, and dramatic enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this series to anyone with an imagination and a CD player.

2

Ok, I'll start. How about ... "Movie-Somethings"?

3

Two Tickets for Media Discernment?

4

BDB:

I pitched "Reel Discernment" but it was dismissed as "too heady."

5

Thoughtful Tomatoes. :P

6

Darn.

If Reel Discernment was an option, I would have voted for it!

(I was trying to make sure it was relationship-oriented with the two tickets thing, too. So that no one complained it was unrelated to the mission of Boundless.)

7

MooVoo

(short for Movie Review)

8

Christian Cinema Critiques

9

definitely prefer "reel discernment" to "reel wise"

10

How about "The Reel Thing"?

11

Entertainless

12

Spotlight Motion?
Motion Picture Motives?
Vision Revision?
Vision Review?
The Visional (I am thinking like, confessional, but it probably sounds more like urinal...)
Hollywood Scope
Motion Scope
To Flee or Not to Flee
Flee or See
Cast it or See It?

I think the well ran out long ago, so that should be good for now.

13

I would have preferred Reel Discernment to Reel Wise, also. As it is, I voted for Reel Wise.

14

I second (or third) Reel Discernment.

15

Ooh, I like "Reel Discernment" too - you couldn't add it to the options?

16

Another would-be vote for Motte's Reel Discernment. But as it stands, I like Reel Wise, too. :)

and can I just say YAY! I've always loved the segments with Bob, and I'm glad they're going to be a regular item now!

17

How about: Leer sweiver!

18

What about
Cinematics Perfectus (latin for perfect)
or
Cinematics Totus (latin for total)
or
Cinematics Vere (Latin for real)
or
Just Cinematics

---
Hope it doesn't sound pretentious- I just thought it stood out, and had a ring to it

19

How about "Reel Wisdom" instead of "Reel Wise"?

20

Are movies still distributed on reels anymore? :)

How about "Screening Out the Truth"?

21

I also vote for "Reel Discernment."

but if that's a no-go, then "Reel Wise" is ok too.

I also want to comment to say that's it's cool to see a Poll on the front page like I suggested adding awhile back, that is pretty awesome.

22

The Reel Deal?
Reel it In?

23

I like the word discernment. It's pretty-much a favorite.

From a branding standpoint, however, it's a three syllable word easily mumbled.

All that to say, I'm 50/50 on trading wise in for discernment.

24

I voted for "Reel Wise" but would go for "Reel Discernment" as well. Real Wise might be a better play on words, but it is a toss up.

25

"Savvy Cinephile" or just "Savvy Cinema"

26

Waliszewskis MovieReviewskis

27

One more vote for "Waliszewskis MovieReviewskis"!

28

Love the suggestion of no. 26! :-D

29

Too pretentious: The Big Picture, Reel Wise.

If it follows Plugged-In, I'd say "Reel Conservative" would be more accurate.

But, I could accept "Reel Discernment"
- if reviewers can continue to see the point of the film rather than just it's content.

30

"Reel review"...not reel wise I think it's corny.

31

I like 25's suggestions. Alternately, how about "Beyond the Scenes"?

32

I move for a re-vote between "Reel Discernment" and the top vote-getter for the first poll...

33

Hmm, the vote is close. I think the "something else" third option is functioning as the Ross Perot of this poll.

34

not reel wise I think it's corny.

I agree with Nicole #30, I think reel wise is reel lame. Probably because I'm a grammar maven and it sounds like poor grammar.

Reel discernment is different for me, though, because someone would actually say "she shows real discernment" whereas no one would say "she's real wise" unless they were on a daytime talk show.

35

"The Soul in Cinema" - I think that the name should reflect the importance of our entertainment choices. "Reel Wise" would get a strong vote for second choice from me.

36

Silver Screening

37

No one has really commented on the other poll option. "The Big Picture" is pretty good as well.

I also agree with Cassandra(#34)

38

I'd vote for "Flee or See?"

39

I second "Silver Screening'! "Flee or See" is pretty good, too.

40

I suggest Fresh Eyes.

41

Waliszewskis MovieReviewskis is great...

Definitely not to make fun of anyone's name, but it's fun to say! Try it.

42

Quick Flicks
Movie Minute
Faith and Flicks
Reel4Real
Movie Musings
Holiness and Hollywood
corny or clever???

43

I also vote for: "reel discernment"!!

44

Sneak Pique

Double Take

Curtain Call

45

Hmm, I like Double Take ...

46

I was thinking about the title "Righteous Reviews" your call : )

47

I also like "real discernment", although like many others I voted for reel wise!

48

I also vote for Reel Discernment

49

"The Big Picture" reminds me of an old Michael W. Smith album... :)

Lights! Camera! Impact!
Aperture
Second Look

50

Christain Reboot

51

I voted for "Reel Wise" but I would prefer "Reel Discernment". That is my two cents.

52

My suggestion is "Reel Review"

53

Saints & Cinema

54

Movie Bound

55

Carolyn Hook (54) -- I really like your suggestion!

56

The Big Picture is already been used here: http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/ .
I realize it's not movies but this is what I think of when I hear The Big Picture. I think the other option is better and hopefully more original.
