Win a Wii
by Ted Slater on 04/28/2009 at 4:00 PM
OK, just to prove that we don't think playing video games is a necessary symptom of immaturity, Focus on the Family is sponsoring a contest where the winning prize is ... a Nintendo Wii gaming system.
Out of simple prudence, but with a smile on my face, I will refrain from further commentary.
To win, you've got to brag on your mother. Coincidentally, perhaps, the contest ends on Mother's Day. That would be May 10.
May the best mother's offspring win.

Anyone playing video games after age 16 is immature.
But then again, my mom is 56, and she is addicted to playing computer tetris.

I had a phase where I would say I was addicted to video games. So now I try to refrain from playing my Wii unless I have company over or I am at someone's house playing. I think that it can be a great way to foster community (like the other day I played Wii Play with my aunt, and Wii Sports with my grandpa, and when I get together with my cousins we like to play Super Smash Brothers), but it can also be bad if you are putting too much time into it and neglecting other things ... just like anything.
Good luck to everyone! As stated, I already have a Wii; so no reason for me to enter. Thanks for the cool opportunity though guys!

Immaturity has to do with the priority one gives gaming in their life. I like when I have a chance to spend a little time playing the Wii with my siblings. We laugh, have fun and bond! =)

By the way, Keith(#1), I don't think that constitutes as bragging on your mom. Lol.

What's a Wii?

Keith (1) - people make a living (and a very good one) from writing and testing video games. I suppose they're immature? I'm also pretty sure most guys I know (solid, decent, Christian men who also hold leadership roles in the church) between the age of 18 and 25 play computer/video games. Not to mention my 49-year-old father, who knows more about computers than my 17 year old brother (who is also a computerphile!)
Re: OP - I would totally enter... but can Aussies win? I might just enter anyway :P

Quick question - does it have to be your mother that your bragging on?
Some of us loyal readers do not have a believing mother. Some may even have a dysfunctional mother. Are we then disqualified because we cannot truthfully brag on her?
What if the Lord has graciously given us other "mothers" instead??

If you really wanted to impress the gamer crowd, you'd need to give away a PS3 and a copy of Valkyria Chronicles :3
I don't need a Wii, but can I send in an e-mail just to brag on my mom? She's really cool :D

I'm hoping that was a sarcastic comment. I am 25 and by no means addicted to video games (I play maybe 3 hours a week) but I certainly enjoy playing a little bit.
It's just like anything else. If you put video games before other more important things, then yes you are immature. But, people do that with dozens of other activities. There is nothing different about playing a little Madden or Call of Duty at the end of the day instead of watching trash on TV or reading the newspaper.

When I was a kid I won a nintendo. Think my dad returned it for me...
