Messed Up Comments etc.
by Ted Slater on 10/22/2008 at 1:23 PM

TypePad, the company providing the platform for our blog, has surprised us with some new "features."

I don't like them at all. TypePad, for example, has mandated new restrictions on the number of comments that can appear on a page (50), the number of blog posts that can appear on an archive page, and so on. I'm doing my best to fix the mess they created. In the meantime, please accept my apology for the navigational weirdness.

A shorter comment page will be easier when accessing something on a mobile device.

Just try to convince them to let the numbers continue from the start of the comment section - not just the top of the page. Boundlessline can't be the only one with that challenge.

2

And your post above is exactly why I DO NOT use Typepad.

Wordpress FTW!

3

People will need to copy the name and date of posting as well as number when replying. I prefer it for people to do that anyway. Just posting a number in a response does not give a lot of tie in info.

4

Isn't it just like companies such as this to come-up with something of this nature?

[shakes his head in dissapointment]

We call this progress, because...?

5

I don't like it that the numbers start over on the next page =p

So, when addressing comment number 51..."The #1 on Page 2 - ..."

6

Thanks for explaining. Thought it might have just been my computer.

Also thought this post was going to run along the lines of: "Those are some pretty messed-up comments you all have been leaving lately." :)

7

I noticed that comments had gone missing, and wondered why admin had deleted a whole bunch of decent comments... so that's why they're gone ;)

8

Aw... I LOVED having all comments on one place. I just hate clicking, or having to flick back and forwards between a page (or 4) to find one specific reference.

9

They code in perl. What do you expect?

Ted,

I know I am off topic, but I was wondering something the other day and knew that you would know the answer.

Who would win if these two fought?

Maybe it is because I am sick and my brain addled by meds, but my ability to decide this one with Biblical reasoning has left me.

If you'd like to leave a comment, we're afraid you'll have to use a non-mobile device to do so. I just couldn't get the mobile comment entry form to work right. Alas. ~Ted.
