Find a Truth Project Group
by Steve Watters on 10/02/2008 at 11:00 AM

IMHO, one of the best products to ever come out of Focus on the Family is The Truth Project. It's compelling, theologically sound and highly relevant. It's also not entirely easy to plug into. You can't go download it for free. You can't even go buy it off the shelf. But that's by design. The Truth Project was created to be experienced in small groups and led by other people who have gone through the material and are motivated to guide others through what they experienced.

To spread the opportunities for people to participate, The Truth Project team has conducted trainings for thousands of people throughout North America and even in several international settings. People who attend the trainings get copies of the DVD curriculum and are ready to lead a small group.

People who want to plug in without doing the training, just need to find small groups that are offering it. To that end, the Truth Project team recently added a search tool for people who would like to find a Truth Project small group in their area.

Even after attending a great Christian college and graduate school, I still gained a lot of insight and motivation from The Truth Project. If you haven't had a chance to check it out, please consider attending a training or searching for a small group in your area.

I highly recommend the Truth Project. Our church had a small group this spring going through it. Very interesting. I went to a Bible College, had a worldview class, and was on a worldview team for a year and still thought that this was excellent.

The theology that was presented was better than most that I've come across. I was watching pretty closely for issues. A couple of the later sessions presented an idea or two that I wasn't entirely sold on; but there wasn't a strong Biblical case to say that it wasn't true.

On a technical side, it was very well organized, and the production values were surprisingly good.

I wish this was posted a week ago so that everyone could participate in the training simulcast and start their own group. Definitely worth checking out if there is a group in your area!

The Truth Project is life-changing! Even if you've been a Christian for a long time or even attended Christian school, it's well worth the time commitment...and bring friends!

What a timely post! I'm going to a Truth Project small group tonight in Philadelphia. This will be our second time meeting. The topics lead to interesting discussion afterwards, especially because we happen to have several law students in the group.

I saw the first two or three videos of The Truth Project, and as someone who has been educating youth in the Christian worldview for a number of years now, I am glad to see FotF put together and promote such a program.

That said, I don't think it's the best presentation of the material I've ever seen or heard. Of course, there is no perfect curriculum. David Noeble's Summit Ministries has a small group curriculum called "Understanding the Times" that is good, but it too has deficiencies.

Some books I'd recommend on the subject are J.F. Baldwin's The Deadliest Monster, which I had my 9th and 10th graders read this year, J. Mark Bertrand's Rethinking Worldview and Greg Bahnsen's Pushing the Antithesis.

Worldview thinking made a huge difference in my life and I encourage everyone to seek to become literate in this area, be it through a series like The Truth Project or some great books.

I participated in The Truth Project over a year ago and can still clearly remember many of the lessons. It was one of the most challenging studies I've ever been in. It's a commitment, but well worth it. I'd love to go through it again.

6

Yea! I'm leading a group, our last training session is in two days. :) And I think all the members in my group are all way older than me... this could be weird. :)

7

I just got trained at the simulcast and my group starts this weekend! I'm stoked - I was very impressed at the training seminar and can't wait to dive in to the curriculum.

8

Unfortunately, even if you do go through the training, Focus on the family still makes it a pain to get copies of the truth project. Especially if you live in Canada.

If you'd like to leave a comment, we're afraid you'll have to use a non-mobile device to do so. I just couldn't get the mobile comment entry form to work right. Alas. ~Ted.
