Resolved Conference
by Ted Slater on 02/27/2008 at 2:26 PM

I'm going to this year's Resolved conference, and am really looking forward to it. It's taking place in Palm Springs from June 13-16.

It's not a "business trip," in that we won't have a booth and aren't a sponsor. It's a time for me, personally, to pause and reflect on the richness of God's character. I'm really looking forward to the expository preaching, the times of worship and the fellowship.

The folks putting on the conference took its inspiration from young Jonathan Edwards's resolutions to honor the Lord through his thoughts and actions. Speakers include John MacArthur, John Piper, C.J. Mahaney, Steve Lawson, Rick Holland and Randy Alcorn. Though I anticipate being inspired by each of them, I'm especially looking forward to hearing C.J., as I suspect he'll preach about the mysterious cross of Christ.

If you're thinking of going, or have already decided to go, let me know. It'd be cool to meet up.

Would love to go to a conference with speakers who preach in an expository way.

Maybe one day people like that can be cloned so that more conferences can happen in more places...

2

I'm just going to take a wild stab and say you read my email and posted this.

If not, i don't care...I'm still gonna say it.

Thanks :)

3

Love to go.

Are you taking up an offering to pay the way for the wife and I?

I've been to all three of the Resolved conferences so far and I'm going to this one too. The first conference totally changed my life. The next two were incredibly encouraging and refreshing to me also. I encourage any one and every one to go. One of the best parts has been to hear 5,000 people singing praises to Jesus Christ all at once. It will change your life! This year, the topic is Heaven and Hell. It should be very interesting.

Christina -- I did read your e-mail, and even forwarded it to the team so we could talk about sponsoring our own conference. At this point, that's not something we're able to do.

In the meantime, we've been involved fairly heavily with New Attitude (with whom I have a "history"), and a bit with Fusion. While we can't officially "endorse" either of the conferences, you can tell by our involvement with them that we think highly of them.

We don't (yet, perhaps) have any relationship with the Resolved conference. I'm just going because I believe it'll be a deeply refreshing time. What better than to be able to revel in rich, sound doctrine, and then be given an avenue for expressing gratefulness for who the Lord is and what He's done?

FWIW, I'm going on the cheap. I found round-trip tickets from Denver to Los Angeles for under $150 before taxes and fees. Nice!

Again,

Thanks :) I'm definitly going to look into attending this!

7

wow. That speaker line up is all star.
CJ is a humble servant. Love hearning him preach. I'm sure you are aware of "his" blog?
Look forward to seeing you guys at Na again!

I attended Resolved 2007, and it absolutely changed my life. In fact, I found out about Boundless through Solo Femininity, which was linked by one of the friends I made during the trip! I agree with the benefits described by Elizabeth in post #4. God reminded me of the richness and the necessity of His Gospel for each and every believer. Whenever I feel spiritually dry now, I'd refer to my Resolved notes. Our group of acquaintances bonded quickly because of our common interest in wanting to receive substantial spiritual food. Also bumped into many old college friends. Each day was exciting and packed, with time for book browsing and restaurant-hopping. I encourage those who haven't attended to check it out!

After this mountaintop experience, there came a period of spiritual low, which propelled me to think of ways to not stay there too long. In the months after the conference, these have been going through my head:

1) To not just stop at the conference, but continue to be self-feeding with scripture memorization, daily devotions and reading books by those speakers! Having a group to do these together can really help.
2) To make more effort in strengthening and encouraging the friends I have in Christ.
3) To use the knowledge I've gained as the basis for being open about opportunities in serving the community around me, starting with my church and moving outward.

It will be nice if some of us went this year and met up. =)
