Hugh Hewitt on the 2006 Election: Part 1
by Motte Brown on 11/01/2006 at 4:48 PM
As Ted noted in a previous post, we caught up with Hugh Hewitt at Biola University on Oct. 27 during last week's GodBlogCon 2006. He was generous to give us a 20-minute interview just before going live on-air with his nationally syndicated radio show. While setting up, Hugh was putting the finishing touches on his broadcast, working a breaking story about CNN's Wolf Blitzer's ungracious interview with Lynne Cheney, wife of Vice President Dick Cheney.
Hugh is a noted political pundit and a conservative Republican. We wanted to know his thoughts on the upcoming election in light of the media, politicians and polls all giving the Democrats the edge to regain control of at least one, possibly both, houses of congress.
Hugh, I listen to your show and I get a sense that you don't believe the generic polling showing double digit leads for Democrats in the upcoming election. Is it too early to tell which way this election is breaking?
David Kuo, former Deputy Director in President Bush's Faith Based office, has been receiving a lot of media attention about his book calling for evangelicals to "fast" from the election process. Do you believe evangelicals will vote this election cycle?
Any thoughts about the seats opening up for 2008?
Over the coming days we'll be publishing more excerpts from our interview with Hugh.
